It’s May and still chilly here in Davenport, Iowa. As my first school year as a full-time college professor draws to a close, I’m turning my attention to the following projects.

As a pianist:

  • Practicing for my concerts this summer and beyond

  • Planning out the details of next year’s concert season, including a documentary on the Pleyel piano and the music of Chopin

  • Producing the fourth annual season of the Piedmont Chamber Music Festival. Join us for a spectacular season, Bay Area friends!

As an educator:

  • Working to create online, free, high-quality content for college-level music theory courses, with assistance from a grant from Augustana College

  • Tutoring kids of all ages in test prep, academic subjects, and writing (contact me if you know a student who could use help)

  • Planning my theory courses for next year (yes, it’s never too early)

As a human being:

  • Blogging

  • Traveling to Maui, Canada (Waterloo and Vancouver), San Francisco and Taiwan for work and pleasure

  • Refueling on Asian food at all of the above places

  • Reading about gardening, making iPhone apps, and web development

  • Planting my first container garden

  • Learning French

(this is a now page, inspired by Derek Sivers).
